A no-cost EMI enquiry chatbot that quotes your offer sheet.

Cloodot’s no-cost EMI enquiry chatbot answers “is this on no-cost EMI?” from the offer sheet your finance team approves: eligible cards and lenders, tenures, monthly amounts and the fine print. It explains how the offer works, never decides eligibility, and hands anything about approvals or statements to a person.

Why EMI questions are hard to answer on WhatsApp

During a sale, a good share of electronics enquiries end with the same follow-up: “no-cost EMI?” Then come the details. Which cards, how many months, does the cashback still apply, is there a processing fee. The salesperson who knows this week’s scheme is on the floor, and the one on WhatsApp is reading last week’s poster.

A wrong answer costs more than the sale. Tell a customer an offer works on their card when it doesn’t, or promise “no charges at all” when GST on the interest applies, and you have an argument at the billing counter and a dispute later. That is why finance teams want one approved wording, given the same way every time.

How no-cost EMI works, and what the chatbot says about it

  1. No-cost EMI is not interest-free credit. The bank or finance company still charges interest on the loan. The retailer or brand gives the customer a discount equal to that interest, usually up front at billing, so the instalments add up to the product’s price. On some offers, choosing no-cost EMI also means giving up an instant cash discount.

  2. Three details trip customers up. Eligibility depends on the lender: credit-card EMI blocks the full amount on the card’s limit, debit-card EMI is usually offered only to pre-approved customers, and consumer-durable loans from finance companies need approval and sometimes a down payment. Tenures are fixed per offer. And the discount often covers the interest only, so GST on the interest component and any processing fee may still be charged unless the offer says otherwise. In the Gulf, card issuers’ 0% instalment plans work in a similar way, often with a one-time processing fee.

  3. The chatbot’s job is to say all of this in your words, from your sheet. Add the offer sheet to the knowledge base as a PDF, CSV or Excel file, or as a text entry, with one row per model, lender and tenure and the monthly amount already worked out. The agent then answers which tenures apply, what the EMI comes to and what is not covered, adds the disclaimer you wrote, and hands over the moment a customer asks whether they personally will be approved.

What Cloodot does here

  • Knowledge base

Holds the offer sheet as a file or a text entry. Replace it when the scheme changes and the agent answers from the new one.

    Explore AI agent
  • FAQs

Fixed wording for the questions finance cares about, like “is there really no interest?” and “will I pay GST?”, so the answer never drifts.

  • Procedures

An EMI procedure can ask for the model and payment method first, offer quick-reply buttons for tenure, and always end with your disclaimer.

  • Documents

Upload the current offer PDF under Settings → Presets → Documents and the agent attaches it when a customer asks for the full terms.

  • Handover to humans

Approval questions, declined transactions and statement disputes go to a person, with a priority rating and the reason recorded in the thread.

Set up a no-cost EMI enquiry chatbot in Cloodot

6 steps

  1. Build the offer sheet

One row per model or category, lender, tenure and monthly amount, plus what the discount covers and what it does not.

  2. Add it to the knowledge base

Upload it under Intelligence → Knowledge Base as a PDF, CSV or Excel file, and add the full terms PDF under Settings → Presets → Documents.

  3. Write the fixed answers

Add FAQs for “is it really no-cost?”, GST on interest, processing fees and down payments, worded the way finance approved.

  4. Create an EMI procedure

Describe when it applies, then list the steps: confirm the model, ask the payment method, quote from the sheet, add the disclaimer, offer tenure quick replies.

  5. Add handover conditions

Hand over when a customer asks about approval, a declined payment or a charge on their statement.

  6. Test against the sheet

Ask the playground about an eligible model, an ineligible one and an expired offer, and check every number against the sheet.

What the chatbot will not decide

  • There is no bank or lender integration. The agent cannot check whether a particular card is eligible, whether the customer has enough limit, or whether a loan will be approved; those checks happen at billing or with the lender. It also cannot see a customer’s statement to explain a charge.
  • Its answers are only as current as the sheet. If the scheme changes on Friday and the file is replaced on Monday, the weekend’s answers are wrong, so replacing the sheet belongs on the same checklist as changing the posters. Put monthly amounts in the sheet rather than asking the agent to work them out.

Who runs this

Electronics, mobile and appliance retailers in India that run card and finance-company EMI offers, especially during sale periods when the scheme changes weekly. It also suits Gulf retailers explaining card instalment plans in English and Arabic.

The setup assumes someone in finance or category management owns the offer sheet and signs off the wording. The chatbot repeats that wording at any volume; it does not replace the person who negotiates the scheme with the bank.

Questions teams ask

Is no-cost EMI really interest-free?

Not exactly. The lender charges interest as usual, and the retailer or brand gives a discount equal to that interest, so the instalments add up to the price. Depending on the offer, the customer may still pay GST on the interest and a processing fee. A well set-up chatbot says this plainly instead of promising “zero charges”.

Can the chatbot check whether a customer’s card is eligible?

It can tell them which cards and lenders the offer sheet lists for that model. It cannot check their specific card, limit or credit approval, because Cloodot has no connection to banks or lenders. Those checks happen at billing, and the chatbot says so and hands approval questions to your team.

How do we update the bot when the EMI offer changes?

Replace the offer sheet in the knowledge base and update any FAQ whose wording changed. The agent answers from the new version once processing finishes. Delete the old sheet rather than keeping it alongside, so an expired scheme can never be quoted by mistake.

Can the chatbot calculate the monthly EMI?

It can repeat the amounts in your sheet, and that is the safer setup. Write the monthly figure for each model and tenure into the sheet, rounded the way your billing system rounds, so the number in the chat matches the number on the charge slip.

Does it work for Gulf instalment plans too?

Yes. The same setup covers card instalment plans in the UAE or Saudi Arabia: list the issuer, tenure, monthly amount and processing fee in the sheet, and choose Arabic and English as reply languages on the persona. The agent explains the plan; the issuer still decides who qualifies.

Can we send a new EMI offer to past customers?

Yes, as a WhatsApp campaign to contacts who opted in, using an approved marketing template. Meta charges per template message and bills you directly. Replies land in the inbox, where the agent answers them from the same offer sheet, with the same disclaimer.
