Reclaim Ownership of Your Facebook Page
Published on August 30, 2023
If you need to regain control of a Facebook Page that belongs to you, whether it was taken by a hacker, revoked by a former employee, or you never had power in the first place, there's a straightforward process to reclaim full administrative rights. By reporting the issue and providing proof of ownership, you can quickly recover the administrator role for your business or organization's official Facebook Page. This guide will walk you through the steps to regain control of your Page.
How do you know if your Facebook page is hacked?
If you can't access your Page, you should first see whether another admin or someone with complete authority over the Page has deleted you. In such circumstances, it's best to contact a Page admin or someone with complete authority over the Page and ask to be reinstated. Because there are distinct Page responsibilities and access levels, only Page admins or persons with complete power may add or delete people.
Signs that your account may have been hacked include
Changes to your email or password.
Modifications to your name or birthday.
Friend requests are sent to unfamiliar people.
Messages sent that you didn't write.
Posts made that you didn't create.
If your account has been hacked, take immediate steps to secure it. If you suspect that someone else who works on your Page has been hacked, encourage them to seek immediate help through the Accounts security section of the Help Centre.
What are the documents you need to reclaim your Facebook ownership?
Valid Government-Issued Photo ID: Prepare a copy of a valid government-issued photo ID, such as a driver's license or passport. Facebook accepts different types of identification, which can be found in their help center.
Signed Statement: Create a signed statement from a person who possesses sufficient knowledge and authority on the matter. The statement should include the following information:
Description of Your Relationship to the Page: Clearly explain your relationship to the Page and your authority to request a change from the current Page manager(s), if applicable.
Page URL: Provide the URL of the Page you wish to reclaim.
Name of Current Page Manager(s): Include the name(s) of the current person(s) managing the Page, if applicable, and their relationship to the Page.
Explanation of Your Request: Elaborate on the reason for your request. For instance, if there has been a termination of the working and/or business relationship with the named person(s), explain the circumstances.
Supporting Documentation: Attach any relevant documentation supporting your request. This could include a business license or certificate of incorporation under the business page name, demonstrating your authority over the business.
Facebook Account Information: Provide the Facebook account or email address associated with the Facebook account that you wish to have added as the new Page administrator.
Statement of Truth and Accuracy: Include a statement affirming the truth and accuracy of the information you have provided. For example, "I declare under penalty of perjury that the information provided is true and accurate." Customize the statement accordingly, ensuring its authenticity.
By preparing these items and submitting them to Facebook, you can initiate the process of reclaiming ownership of your Facebook Page.

Recovering a page is more challenging than retrieving a personal account but not impossible. If your page was taken over by a hacker or rogue administrator, the best course of action is to report it to Facebook, claiming infringement of your property.
However, if you were removed by an admin, it's advisable to politely communicate with them first. Contacting Facebook might not be effective, especially if they can't verify your identity.
Given the widespread usage of Facebook, reclaiming access to your popular page is crucial for maintaining your business's visibility.
